Who are we?

Our service brings together a group of dedicated professionals who share a common long term vision for lymphoedema care in New Zealand. The service was started by Mr Simon Chong, a New Zealand reconstructive plastic surgeon with an interest in microsurgery.

How can I be referred?

We accept referrals from medical specialists, GPs, and lymphoedema therapists. Patients from all across New Zealand are welcome. We need details of your past medical history, cancer treatment, and lymphoedema treatment to date. As surgical results can be underwhelming without lymphoedema therapy, we also need confirmation from your therapist that you have been compliant with their treatment.

Is my surgery covered?

Please note that we do not receive funding from Te Whatu Ora / Health NZ, and that this is (presently) a privately funded service.

We have long established relationships with all major insurance providers and ACC. Lymphoedema surgery is new to New Zealand, so different providers have approved differing levels of cover at present. We continue to advocate and work with our partners to make care more accessible, as part of our long term goal to advance lymphoedema care for New Zealanders.

How can I find you?

Our service is headquartered in Auckland in a new surgical facility, Auckland Plastic Surgery Group. We are located in East Tamaki, just off the Southern Motorway offramp at Highbrook. This is about 15 minutes drive from Auckland Domestic Airport.
